POSTURAL FITNESS™

How we look and feel each day is relative to 3 equal factors; what we consume as fuel, the physical activity we perform, and the alignment of our body. Most of us fixate on what we eat and a workout to enhance our physical health and physical appeal. Fact is, our posture is the primary indicator of our fitness, poise and confidence and the primary reason others find us attractive. Few people comprehend the importance of posture and rarely is posture improvement a priority of health and fitness regimens.
AlignMed (Alignmed Inc, Santa Ana, CA www.alignmed.com) believes this is largely due to no effective solution to improve and sustain good posture. This led us to the development of NeuroBand® Technology, Evidence Based Apparel® and Postural Fitness™. – A passive strategy to activate, retrain and balance muscles, for good posture - with measurable results.
The exoskeletal garments are bio-ergonomically engineered with the AlignMed Medical Advisory Panel, or AMAP. AMAP is an esteemed group of experts in medicine and sports science, committed to helping people maximize the body’s innate ability to heal itself. NeuroBand Technology has its foundation in an anatomic matrix of elastomeric bands, panels and seams, built into comfortable, form-fitting garments. NeuroBands apply specific resistance onto targeted muscle groups, in kinetic alignment. Think of it as a wearable workout over a lifetime.
Evidence Based Apparel® (EBA®) is distinguished from the markets of apparel with independent research and clinical results that validate improvements in strength, vascularity, muscle activity, performance, injury prevention, injury recovery, pain management and overall posture improvement. Additionally, EBA requires no discipline, or change in behavior to have a functional improvement. This is a grand distinction from the markets of ‘wearable technology’, which deliver data that requires a conscious action.
EBA MAY BE SIMPLER THAN YOU THINK
EBA and Postural Fitness are innovative concepts, but not theoretical.
Truth is, the human body performs over 24-hour daily cycles called circadian rhythm. When you work out, muscles adapt to whatever physical exertion you expose them to. Today, over 50% (over 12 hours per day) of our day is spent sitting, while performing awkward, repetitive movements; like typing on a keyboard, texting, or watching TV. This modern phenomenon has wrought bad postures with dreadful physical consequences. Nearly all physical health services report musculoskeletal health and chronic pain as epidemic. Posture improvement does not happen by way of chance. Likewise, it is physically irresponsible to believe that a one hour workout and/or caloric diet will undo what we do to our body in a 24-daily cycle. Medicine and sports training use controlled resistance onto targeted muscles as the foundation for physical fitness and injury recovery. Physical fitness and sports training regimens, such as running, weight lifting, yoga, Pilates, biking, swimming, hiking, etc., generate muscles resistance to improve balance, strength and stamina. These actions require discipline and a conscious change in behavior. EBA provides an unconscious, or passive intervention, with exoskeletal garments that require no discipline or change in behavior. This has immense advantages over traditional fitness and therapy programs. Here’s why:
We need help. Society is experiencing record highs in musculoskeletal injury, arthritis, chronic pain and neurological disorders.
“Although life span has increased, morbidity and chronic disability now account for nearly half of the health burden in the United States. Improvements in population health in the United States have not kept pace with advances in population health in other wealthy nations. Assessments of how changes in health spending have affected or, indeed, not affected changes in the burden of disease, may provide insights into where the US health care system could most effectively invest its resources to obtain maximum benefits for the nation’s population health. In many cases, the best investments for improving population health would likely be public health programs and multisectoral action to address risks such as physical inactivity.” (National Institute of Health(NIH); The Burden of Musculoskeletal Health.
The USA Bone and Joint Initiative, (www.boneandjointburden.org), published a significant report on Musculoskeletal Diseases and the burden they cause:
We need AlignMed to wake people up. AlignMed needs ambassadors who share in the company’s vision and have the passion to see the products into mainstream use.
We will not, promise EBA will cure anybody, or any disease; or that it is the best treatment for an individual. What we claim is that are solution treats the cause and not the effect - and that makes for a disruptive innovation of great magnitude. The concept of sustaining Postural Fitness over a lifetime, using exoskeletal garments, cannot be overlooked or underestimated. EBA and Postural Fitness as a societal standard of care is a lofty goal that is worth the effort.
